Each month, we’ll introduce you to a member of our Female Travel Bloggers Facebook community so you can learn about who they are, why they became a blogger and what their favorite travel moments have been so far.

Meet Priyadarshini from “Glorious Sunrise.”

What inspired you to start blogging?

I love three things more than anything: traveling, reading and writing. And I have always been passionate about helping others with anything I could. So, I combined all my interests together and started my blog. It was originally a travel blog to help others experience beautiful places using insider tips from me. Now, food and books have also formed part of my blog as I seem to enjoy them on my trips 🙂

How did you come to name your blog?

I wanted my blog name to be something that makes readers think of the incredible beauty of our world at its best and I wanted it to be a global phenomenon. When I was thinking about creating a travel blog, I went on a local trip in South India. Witnessing a glorious sunrise there was a magical experience to me and it translated into my blog’s name!

What makes you unique compared to all other bloggers out there?

My blog covers tips for family travelers, especially covering the practicality of what to pack, tips for traveling with young children. This helps my readers plan and enjoy perfect trips with their kids!

What do you love most about being part of the FTB group?

FTB is one of the best groups on Facebook. A hive mind with brilliant, helpful people in the group can only mean that the quality of our blogs would skyrocket. I also love the fact that people from all over the world interact in this group with great respect to one another.

What advice do you have for people wanting to start a blog or those who are struggling to continue with it?

There are always ups and downs in everything we do. But then facing the setback is what makes us strong and rise above it. Our hard work would never go waste. Keep moving forward with all you have; your blog will blossom soon enough. Also, do not compare your blog with other blogs. Everyone has to start somewhere and you do not know how much hard work was needed to create that big blog. Take a break from blogging, look at it from the reader’s perspective, and plan how to go ahead. You can do it, my friend!

What are your blogging goals?

I would love to reach more people through my blog and inspire them to travel with their families. Also, I am trying to turn my blog into the main source for my travel funds.

What has been your biggest blogging win?

When a friend recently messaged me that my blog inspired her to travel more and write about her experiences and create her own blog, I felt very happy.

Where do you live?

I am currently based in Fremont, California.

What do you do for your career?

I write for various magazines as a travel writer. I also publish books on Amazon.

What is your favorite film?

“The Mummy Returns”, because it has the right mix of cuteness, mystisism, heroism and comedy! I love it. Right next are “Home Alone” and “The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants”.

What song is your life anthem?

“Hakuna Matata” from “The Lion King” pretty much became a mantra 🙂

What quote sums up where you are right now?

This Chinese New Year is the Year of the Dog. So, I am leaning towards ‘Every dog has its day’. Haha! But seriously,

“Success is hard work meeting opportunity”.

Do you have an embarrassing travel story?

Yes. Plenty of them, unfortunately. One of them is the time when I booked a train ticket to the wrong city and realized it when I was boarding the train.

What has been your most memorable travel experience so far and what made it so unforgettable?

My hiking trip to Tikona Fort in Pune was magical. It was monsoon time. When we hiked it rained slightly enhancing the beauty of all the abundant greenery around us. It was incredible looking at the gorgeous valley and fields around from the top. I wanted to stay there forever.

What is your favorite city and country and why?

Sydney, Australia is my favorite city and India is my favorite country.

Sydney has the best getaways for solo travelers and was the first international city that I traveled to.

Trekking Tikona in Western India

India is my homeland and automatically my favorite country 🙂 It is a vast country with majestic Himalayan mountains in the north, mystical evergreen rainforests in the east, an intimidating desert in the west, stunning beaches in the south.

What one destination did not impress you and why?

Mumbai, India, did not impress me even though it had a lot to see and do. I felt suffocated in the city that is active even in the nights. It was too rushed for my taste.

What has been your favorite meal?

My favorite meal is a simple meal of lentils and rice that I enjoyed at a host’s house on one of my trips.

Where are you traveling to next?

Yosemite National Park is our next destination. Very excited for this trip!

What/who inspired you to travel?

I have always been a dreamer from childhood and kept a huge Atlas from about the age of 7. I liked learning about various cultures, people, and lands. Then I started reading books where I visualize the location more than the characters. One of my favorite cities is the golden city of San Francisco, which was the setting in a story I read called “The Golden Gate Morning”. I resolved to travel and see all the places I noted down from my books and I finally made my San Francisco trip too.

What’s your travel style and why do you like it? (Budget, Luxury, slow, sustainable, family, solo etc)

I used to travel solo before marriage. Now I travel with my husband and our kids. We do not rush from one place to the next just to finish the bucket list. We take it slow to enjoy all that the place has to offer.
