That’s it! We don’t care if you wore a floral dress to hike up a mountain or if you haven’t showered in 5 days and snapped a photo as you crawled out of a crevasse in the grand canyon. We don’t care if you shoot on the newest and best camera or an iPhone 3 that you got from your friend’s neighbor before traveling. We don’t care if you’re in the photo, or behind the lens. We don’t care where you come from, what you look like, or how you travel. We take pride in a feed that doesn’t really have a theme because our content is sourced from fabulous female travel bloggers from around the world- and that is our theme. We strive to be a fully inclusive and diverse feature account in the truest sense. So, show us what makes you unique and tag us for a feature!

Me.. AGAIN.. (@smallcrazy) 😬 Here’s the proof that I made it to ABC (Annapurna Base Camp – 4130m) *pats lazy self on the back for making it without any prior training/exercise whatsoever* 🤗 This was my first multi-day hike. I hate climbing. But by the end of it I was a machine – 1500 steps in a row was like nothing! Still hate climbing though. Btw, ‘Annapurna’ means ‘giver of food’. I hope that explains how I gained instead of lost weight as a result of climbing this mountain.. -_- . For more visuals of Nepal be sure to check out >> @smallcrazy 🌈 Thanks for reading! Things That Boost Your Chances

While we are happy to feature any type of photo, and will always remain inclusive and diverse, there are a few things you can do to get noticed and boost your chances of getting a feature.

  • Be yourself. We love featuring people who are out there just doing their own thing.
  • Follow our account. You support us, we’re more likely to support you.
  • Engage with us, meaning comment and like our photos consistently.
  • Be an active member of Female Travel Bloggers.
  • Follow and support the members who run the FTB Instagram account.
  • Susanna – @wanderingchocobo
    Mayuri – @tosomeplacenew
    Karin – @girlastray
    Sarah – @sarahscotland
  • Dani – @wanderlustonabudget
  • Ashleigh – @ashleigh_elsewhere

All of these things mean that the people who run the account are more likely to recognize your user name and we’re honestly more likely to feature inclusive photos from accounts and members who appreciate our account and give us support through engagement.

What if I Don’t Use the Hashtag and I @femaletravelbloggers Instead?

To be honest, we are mentioned in captions hourly. If you @ mention us in your caption, you’re going to get lost in our feed pretty quickly and we might not see your post. If you physically tag us in the photo using the tagging feature then it is saved in a place that is easy for us to access and we do sometimes go through those tags and feature images from there, but the process of searching through those photos is more cumbersome. The easiest process for us is to search through the hashtag #femaletravelbloggers or our member exclusive hashtag and you are more likely to get featured using the hashtag over anything else.

So, to sum it up your most likely to get a feature using the hashtag. You might get a feature if you physically tag us in the photo. If you mention us in a caption it will get lost in our notifications.

New Zealand is just stunning! I find myself just stopping and saying “Wow” every few seconds. . Day three with @traversejourneys was a cultural day mixed with some stunning nature. We toured an archaeological site of a Maori and English village that was destroyed in a volcano. Honestly though, the best part was a little hike out to a waterfall and being immersed in lush nature. . After that, we had a Maori welcome dinner where we were welcomed on to Maori land, learned about their culture and traditions. I made sure to drink wine from New Zealand’s first Maori owned winery – it was a sustainable winery to boot! I ended the day on a late night bush walk to see the nocturnal kiwis. They’re so cute! 🥝 . ⁉️Do you think it’s important to learn about the indigenous culture of the destinations you go? . #sponsored #purenewzealand #capturenz #newzealandguide #mitaivillage #maori #destinationnz #visitnewzealand #explorelocal #newzealand #cathedralcove #sustainabletravel #greentravel #savethewhales #nzmustdo #bestnewzealand #newzealandfinds #postcardsfromtheworld #globalstorybook #travelvibes #Femaletravelbloggers #ABMtravelbug #Flashesofdelight #wheretofindme #openmyworld #waterfallporn #shotzdelight #landscape_hunter #worldtravelbook #wonderfulglobe

Things You’re Doing To Hurt Your Chances

DMing us with no regard to our guidelines of how to get featured. Sharing your latest photo via DM that doesn’t include our hashtag or tag our account, is the fastest way to not get a feature. We’re literally swimming in DMs from people who don’t follow us, don’t engage with us, don’t use our hashtag, and just spam us with photos. We don’t enjoy it and it doesn’t help you. Support us by using our hashtags and engaging with our account by supporting us and our members.

However, we love hearing from our members and getting tagged in their stories. If you just finished a blog post, give us a shoutout in your stories. We love motivating our members and praising their accomplishments when we have the time to do so. Also, if you have any questions about blogging or Instagram feel free to send us a DM, it’s just the endless spam we tend to ignore.

I am off to the Tatra mountains tomorrow to do one last hike before the trails close for the winter. I found a blablacar which will save me half of the train ticket price and now I’m stressed out about driving fast on the highway and getting into a car crash. Irrational, right, because I’ve still hitchhiked plenty even after that life changing car accident. Not asking for tips or advice, just wanted to share – admitting things out loud helps me to overcome panic and anxiety. Are you trying to squeeze in some last minute autumn hikes too or you’re looking forward to skiing already? #vysoketatry #strbskepleso . . . . . . #pureslovakia #slovenskehory #slovakianaturehd #slovakwild #slovakiatravel #cestujemczsk #cestujemposlovensku #turistikanaslovensku #slovakadventures #dnescestujem #mountaingirls #mtnchicks #alpinebabes #hikelikeagirl #hikergirl #hikerchick #womeninthewild #femaletravelbloggers

I get asked this question a lot – what is ToSomePlaceNew? I mean people get it – it’s about traveling and traveling to unknown or unexplored places. But how and why did I come up with this name. . . So, in early 2011, I decided to set goals for the whole year. (Goals/ Resolutions whatever you like to call it). It was also one of those years, when you realize we are a part of the (rat) race, even if you didn’t like it. One of the goals in 2011 and a promise to myself, was to travel to 2 new places every year – as long as I am alive. Doesn’t have to be a different country or continent, but a place I have never been before. This and one of Dalai Lama’s influential quote, “once a year go somewhere you have never been before” This was my mantra since then. And the inspiration for my blog name. ToSomePlaceNew began in a blog form in 2015 (like a travel diary, bouncing from blogspot to Blogger to now WordPress) and I am so glad it still exists. It’s a blog with travel resources and tips (has over 75+ articles) ♥️ This blog is now a travel space for my husband and I. . . So yea, it is 8 years since I did that goal setting exercise for myself and it stayed. . . . #tosomeplacenew ——————————————————————- 📍Paris France 🇫🇷 ——————————————————————– #femaletravelbloggers #womentravel #girlslovetravel #europeanvacation #aritziastyle #parisfrance #paris🗼 #parisgram #parisweloveyou #louvremuseum #museedulouvre #louvrepyramid #ladiesgoneglobal #journeyofgirls #canadagirl #traveldreamseekers #wetravelgirls #travelblogger #lifewelltraveled #travelersnotebook #dametraveler #gltlove #damestravel #topparisphoto #pariscity #parislove #travelgirlsgo #wearetravelgirls #travelstyle

Be Understanding

Using our tag once is not going to guarantee a feature and please understand that our hashtag has been used more than 200k times and every day more and more people use the tag. We do our best to feature accounts who follow our guidelines and engage with us, but we can’t get to everyone. We will try and feature your beautiful photos soon, but we can’t make any promises!

So proud to have been part of team @onekindscotland yesterday to gather people together to clean Leven beach in Fife, Scotland. People: please stop flushing baby wipes! Alongside plastic bottle covers & fishing waste, I was horrified by how many of these we collected. 450 litres of waste collected by our team ☺️ . . . . #fife #scottishblogger #scotland #visitscotland #hiddenscotland #fifecoastalpath #lovefife #fifelife #beachcleanup #environment #charity #recycle #ecofriendly #eco #green #nature #activism #climatechange #earth #conservation #greenliving #ecofriendly #ecotravel #ecotourism #gogreen #marineconservation #pollution #zerowaste #travel
