If you’re reading this post, you have probably heard about Tailwind and you’re wondering what the heck is this? How is Tailwind going to help my blog? Is Tailwind worth the investment? We’re going to cover all of that today in our Tailwind review including the benefits of Tailwind and what it’s actually used for.
Tailwind is a Pinterest approved scheduler that enables you to keep your account active while you’re not on the computer, but there’s more to it than that. We have a million questions about Tailwind in the FTB group, so let’s take a look at the main features of Tailwind, our beloved Pinterest scheduling app.
1. Tailwind automatically posts your content meaning you can schedule a day’s worth, a week’s worth or even a few month’s worth of pins at one time and your account will continue to thrive without you. That’s pretty awesome if you ask me!
2. It analyzes your account and tells you when the best times to post are and fills your pins into that time slot. This is amazing a) because now you know when your audience is most active and b) you can continue pinning even when you’re sleeping because the pins go out automatically.
3. You have access to more advanced analytics that you don’t have on Pinterest including how your group boards are performing, how your pins are performing, and how your profile is growing from week to week.
4. You gain access to a feature called Tailwind Tribes which operates similar to group boards, except the goal is to help you fill your Tailwind schedule by supporting other people. It’s a great way to find quality content AND get your pins into other people’s schedule as well.
Why do we think Tailwind is helpful?
A lot of people don’t truly understand why Tailwind is so great. They say “I could repin pins every day for free instead of using a scheduler” which is true, BUT they are missing out on some key points of WHY everyone loves Tailwind.
If you are pinning every single day, that means you have to be on Pinterest every day and maybe even multiple times a day. That means it’s really difficult for you to have any time off, especially on weekends when pinners are more active→ you should be more active. I can schedule a month’s worth of pins and know that if I don’t want to do anything on Pinterest for the next month, that I will maintain and maybe even grow my views. Obviously adding new content to Pinterest every week will help my traffic explode, but by not having to worry about pinning daily I can focus on creating new pins. Scheduling pins on Pinterest using Tailwind has been a GAME CHANGER for me!
2. In depth Pinterest Analytics
Part of being successful on Pinterest is having a Pinterest strategy! In order to do that, you have to know what is working and what’s not working. Tailwind offers some amazing analytics like the virality score that allows you to inspect each group board based on how many repins and new pins have been added to the group board within the last week. That helps you decide whether it’s worthwhile being in the group board any longer because it shows you “hey people are spamming the crap out of this board (a virality score under 1.0).”
THEN, you can actually click on that board name on the left hand side to inspect how YOUR pins specifically are doing on that board rather than the board as a whole. Sometimes, the board will be terrible and tanking fast, but your pins are the only ones who are actually getting traffic so don’t leave! It’s working for you, even if it’s not working for anyone else.
I also love that I can click on pin inspector and sort my pins into ones that have the most repins in the last year so I can analyze which pins I need to share again or what topics I need to write more content for. You can also separate it by the date shared so you can see how they’re doing and which boards are sending you traffic.
3. Extra exposure
One thing I love about Tailwind is that you can gain a whole bunch of extra exposure through the Tailwind Tribes feature. It enables you to quickly schedule other people’s pins that are relevant to your blog. So it helps you have awesome content to share with your followers AND your pins get shared by other bloggers to their similar audience who are also going to love your content.
4. Super affordable
For all of the time you save, the reach you gain, and the amazing analytics you receive, you are probably thinking “this is going to be expensive…” WRONG-O! Tailwind is only $10 a month y’all. There’s even better news! You technically get a free Pinterest scheduler while you try it out. With their free trial, you get 100 free pins to schedule to see what you think about Pinterest (and to get the hang of it!). You have nothing to lose by trying something new. You can sign up for your free trial here.
Basically, Tailwind gave me my life back without sacrificing my traffic flow. It enabled me to optimize my pinning schedule and took some stress off me so I don’t have to get online every single day for an hour in order to see my traffic grow. With that extra time, I could focus on other aspects of blogging or have a nice glass of wine and watch my favorite reality tv show for that hour a day 😉
Okay, you convinced me! How do I sign up?
Signing up for your free trial is super easy! Click here to be taken to Tailwind, then you simply click free trial, sign up with Pinterest, and voila. We will have a step by step tutorial to set up your Tailwind account soon.
